Shrewsbury will be without top-scorer Fejiri Okenabirhie for the FA Cup third-round clash against Stoke due to a suspension.
The striker picked up his second booking of this season’s competition in the second-round victory against Scunthorpe and will serve a one-match ban.
Winger Shaun Whalley is still struggling with the hamstring injury he picked up during the 2-2 draw with Peterborough.
Alex Gilliead is pushing for a start after boss Sam Ricketts heaped praise on the forward for his performance off the bench last time out against Fleetwood.
Stoke boss Gary Rowett has vowed to field a strong team against the Shrews but could be without defender Ryan Shawcross and midfielder Joe Allen.
Captain Shawcross was sent home from training feeling ill on Thursday while Allen is suffering from a knock.
Ryan Woods is also suffering with illness but Rowett was hopeful he will be fit to face his former club.
Rowett is looking to get a response from his team, who are searching for a first win in four games.
