Late Alex Revell header enough as Stevenage edge Newport

A late header from substitute Alex Revell earned 10-man Stevenage a narrow 1-0 League Two win over visitors Newport County at the Lamex Stadium.
Kurtis Guthrie was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on former Boro defender Fraser Franks six minutes before half-time.
And it was the visitors who created the better chances once they had the numerical advantage – but they failed to take them and were punished at the death.
Padraig Amond was the main culprit for the Welsh club as he shot wildly over the top after being released by Tyreeq Bakinson’s pass a minute before the break.
And he missed three further chances soon after the interval as Robbie Willmott’s crosses from the right flank caused the hosts all sorts of problems.
Danny Newton headed just wide for Stevenage on the hour but it was Newport who were pushing for the winner and midfielder Scot Bennett poked wide under pressure.
It looked like both sides would have to settle for a point before Revell powered home a header from a corner to steal all three points in the 85th minute.
