Barnsley earned a superb 2-0 win to leapfrog promotion rivals Peterborough in fifth in the Sky Bet league One table.
The Tykes took the lead through Alex Mowatt’s first-half strike before a wonder goal from Cauley Woodrow just after break sealed the three points.
Mowatt put the hosts in front after 25 minutes in when full-back Dimitri Cavare made a great run down the right-hand side and slotted a brilliant pass for Mowatt to convert from six yards.
Nine minutes before the break, Posh had their best chance of the game when Marcus Maddison aimed an accurate cross for Matt Godden but his header went narrowly wide.
Barnsley doubled their advantage four minutes after the restart when Woodrow hit a 30-yard piledriver over Conor O’Malley and into the top corner.
Mike-Steven Bahre fired just wide as the hosts pushed for a third before there was controversy with five minutes to play when Ivan Toney latched onto a misplaced pass and was through on goal before going down under contact from Kenny Dougall.
However, the referee felt the foul did not warrant a sending off and gave the Barnsley man a yellow card as Daniel Stendel’s side wrapped up back-to-back league victories.
