The January transfer window is open is just over a week and Premier League sides are expected to be busy.

Manchester United need a new central defender and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be given the funds to bring one in.

Chelsea and Arsenal are on the lookout for more attacking spark while Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool have gone four points clear but may look to add some more to their squad to help the battle with Manchester City.

Lukaku bid

Juventus are considering a move for Romelu Lukaku in January.

Juve have been linked with a host of Manchester United players in the past and could make a move for Lukaku.

The striker has been out of sorts this season but has previously admitted he’d be open to joining Juve.

And Calciomercato report that Juve could make an approach next month.

Solskjaer challenge

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been set a January transfer challenge by Gary Neville.

"Ole's job in the next six months is to be head coach, head scout, head of recruitment and making sure he feeds back really good information into the recruitment department of what the club needs," he’s said during the latest episode of his Sky Sports podcast.

"My concern over the last three to four years is who has been signing the players.

"That needs cleaning up and I am certain the club in the next six months will appoint the right people who are best in class to run that side of things.

"Manchester United have to start getting it right otherwise they will struggle, but it was a good start yesterday."

Morelos going nowhere

Steven Gerrard insists Alfredo Morelos is going nowhere next month.

"He's a top-class finisher," said Gerrard.

"He comes alive in the box and at big times and big moments he has stepped up for us.

"So we're really pleased with him. All good players around the world receive interest and bids - that's football.

"I'll listen to what they have to say. I’ll be respectful, but he's going nowhere and that's the message."

Costa bid rejected

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has seen a bid for Juventus forward Douglas Costa fail, according to reports.

Rai Sport claim United have seen a bid of £54million for Costa knocked back.

It is claimed that Juventus were not convinced by the offer and, for now, are refusing to let the Brazil international go.

United are keen to add to their squad next month to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turn their fortunes around.

Chelsea plot Fekir move

Chelsea have reportedly appointed super agent Pini Zahavi as they attempt to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir.

The attacking midfielder is out of contract in June 2020 with Maurizio Sarri reportedly keen to get a cheaper deal because of that.

And French outlet L’Equipe now report that Zahavi has been appointed by Chelsea in an attempt to make the signing.

Zahavi has a history at Stamford Bridge having played an important role in Roman Abramovich’s purchase of the club.

Klopp ready for the window

Jurgen Klopp says he is ready to make a move in the January transfer window if an opportunity presents itself.

Klopp said: ”I’m very happy with what I've got, but how I said, we don't know.

"We keep the door open because if something happens then we have a look. As long as we can react, it's all good.

"If something dramatically changes, then we need to look."

Poch expects no business

Mauricio Pochettino admits he’s unlikely to sign players in January - unless some are sold.

"We have a full squad,” he said.

"I think we have 28 in the squad. I think it’s impossible to sign players if we have no space.

"We don’t have enough spaces at the moment, so it makes no sense to talk about signing players.”

Rabiot bids

Chelsea and Tottenham have tabled offers for PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The midfielder has become one of the hottest prospects in Europe and is currently in a contract standoff with the Ligue 1 giants.

With his current contract expiring in 2019, Rabiot is packing his bags and a move to Barcelona beckons.

However, according to Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea and Spurs both launched ambitious swoops for the in-demand ace.

Everton sanction exits

James McCarthy and Oumar Niasse could leave Everton on loan next month.

The duo have been frozen out under Marco Silva and are expecting to leave the club.

And the Mirror report they will be allowed to leave on short term deals.

Fulham, Brighton and Burnley are keen on McCarthy while Huddersfield and Crystal Palace are keen on Niasse.

Hazard 'agrees move'

The Chelsea dressing room think Eden Hazard has agreed to leave the club for Real Madrid, according to Ian McGarry.

Hazard was linked with Real Madrid in the summer after hinting he could leave Chelsea at the World Cup, and now the move could be agreed.

"Something that’s affecting Chelsea now is Eden Hazard,” McGarry said on the Sunday Supplement.

"There’s a feeling in the dressing room that he’s agreed a deal to go to Real Madrid and the reason he’s so calm about everything and not having contract negotiations with Chelsea is he has this option and he’s just waiting to exercise it.”

Christian Pulisic update

Christian Pulisic could be on the move in January after Borussia Dortmund made contact with Borussia Monchengladbach over a replacement.

Pulisic is on Chelsea and Liverpool’s radar and both could make a move for the American next month.

And Dortmund want Borussia Monchengladbach star Hazard and have made contact over a deal for January, according to RMC.

A move for Hazard would bring forward the possibility of Pulisic leaving in January.

Man Utd to spend?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will only be allowed to spend money next month if he sells players or if he signs free agents, according to reports in Spain.

United appointed Solskjaer last week after sacking Jose Mourinho, but the are wary of spending money in the transfer window when they will appoint a permanent manager in the summer.

United bought three players in the summer much to the frustration of Mourinho and have been so poor he lost his job last week.

Solskjaer kicked off his reign with a 5-1 thrashing of Cardiff though to suggest he may get more out of the current squad.

Arsenal told to spend £72m

Nicolas Pepe would cost Arsenal £72m in January, Lille chief Luis Campos has warned.

Arsenal are looking for another wide forward after losing Danny Welbeck to injury for the rest of the season.

And Pepe is on their radar, but any move would mean breaking their transfer record.

Speaking about Pepe to Telefoot on Sunday morning, Campos set out the value for the youngster, saying: "€80million (£72M). But [any club] will also have to convince the player."
