Ross County climbed to the top of the Ladbrokes Championship standings in time for Christmas after beating Partick Thistle 2-0 at Dingwall.
Billy McKay and Ross Stewart were on target for the new league leaders, who leapfrogged Ayr after they were held to a goalless draw by Dunfermline.
The Staggies opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after McKay slotted the ball past Jamie Sneddon, who who dived the right way.
The spot-kick was awarded after Daniel Jefferies was adjudged to have brought down Don Cowie.
Both sides had chances early in the second half, with Stewart screwing his shot wide for the hosts and goalkeeper Scott Fox diverting Sean McGinty’s cross for a corner, who scuffed his subsequent shot on goal.
Stewart did add County’s second in the 79th minute when he curled the ball into the net from 18 yards.
