Pereira has only featured six times this season for United

WEST HAM are targeting a January loan move for Manchester United midfielder Andrea Pereira, according to reports.

Pereira has made just six appearances in all competitions this season as the 22-year-old has struggled to compete with the vast amount of squad depth at Old Trafford.

According to The Mirror West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is looking to capitalise on Pereira's wish to find regular football.

Pereira's United contract expires at the end of the season and the Belgian born Brazilian has already declined a new three year deal at Old Trafford.

Chelsea and Arsenal have already registered an interest in Pereira’s services but reports suggest the midfielder is seeking a club that can guarantee first team football.

Pereira has been at United since 2014, and enjoyed loan spells in La Liga with Granada CF and Valencia.

The 22-year-old was often deployed as a winger and occasionally attacking midfielder during his time in Spain.

Pereira's ability to play out wide or in an advanced midfield role will suit Pellegrini’s side due to prior injuries at the London Stadium.

Injuries this season to Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko would allow Pereira the opportunity to play in and around West Ham’s attacking line up.

United boss Jose Mourinho has only started Pereira twice in the league so far this season coming against Brighton and Leicester.

Pereira was handed a start in midweek as United were beaten by Valencia in the Champions League group stage.

However, with United coming into the game already qualified for the last 16, Mourinho took the opportunity to rest key players for this afternoon's clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
