Ben Kennedy earns Stevenage point at Northampton

Ben Kennedy’s equaliser with 15 minutes remaining earned Stevenage a 1-1 League Two draw at Northampton Town on Saturday.
The Cobblers had taken the lead through Dean Bowditch’s first-half strike but Kennedy pounced on a defensive mistake after 75 minutes to break Stevenage’s run of four successive away losses in all competitions.
Northampton dominated the first half as Daniel Powell ballooned the ball over from 10 yards and David Buchanan curled wide before Bowditch twice threatened – off target from range and then having a shot blocked.
It was third time lucky for Bowditch in first-half stoppage-time when he took down Powell’s cross and fired beyond visiting goalkeeper Paul Farman.
The lively Bowditch shot just wide of the post soon after the restart while Joel Byrom was denied by a last-ditch block as Stevenage came more into the game.
And they ensured they would not leave empty-handed as – with 15 minutes remaining – David Cornell slipped when trying to clear and the ball fell straight to Kennedy, who lobbed the stranded home stopper to score.
