Cambridge and Yeovil frustrated

League Two strugglers Cambridge, still without a manager, and Yeovil played out a poor rain-swept 0-0 draw at the Abbey Stadium.
Cambridge’s Paul Lewis struck a powerful free-kick not far wide from 30 yards inside the first 10 minutes, before Jabo Ibehre crossed from the right to George Maris who hooked a volley at Stuart Nelson.
Harrison Dunk made good progress on the left and crossed for Ibehre, who could only head narrowly wide from close range in the 32nd minute.
Yeovil’s only danger of the half was snuffed out by an excellent recovering challenge by Harry Darling to prevent Alefe Santos running through on goal.
David Forde saved well with his feet to stop Sessi D’Almeida’s drive from the edge of the box, before Cambridge gradually began to dominate.
Maris fired wide across goal just before the hour and then Nelson saved well from Reggie Lambe.
The hosts should have won it 19 minutes from the end when Maris threaded a sensational pass through the defence for Lewis, but the midfielder fired his effort wide.
