Bundesliga PREVIEW: Werder Bremen vs Bayern

Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac knows an improvement in the Bundesliga is needed from his team if he wants to stay in his job, starting with their match against Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Bayern currently sit in fifth place, having lost to league leaders Borussia Dortmund and been held by struggling Fortuna Dusseldorf in their last two matches.
Kovac said in his pre-match press conference: “FC Bayern Munich must always be among the top four teams. That’s the minimum.”
“We must make sure we return there soon enough.”
On the weekend’s game Kovac said: “We need to perform on the weekend. Each and every individual must deliver.”
Trio Thiago Alcantara, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have returned to training while Mats Hummels could be available for the match after missing out against Benfica in the Champions League.
On Saturday’s opposition, Kovac said: “Werder Bremen are a very technically good team that drives forward and would like to cause an upset. But we’re prepared for that.”
Werder Bremen have taken one point from their last four matches and are currently seventh in the Bundesliga, but could go level on points with Bayern with a win.
Head coach Florian Kohfeldt believes a victory against Bayern “isn’t impossible” but added playing the Munich side is never easy.
Kohfeldt told the club’s website: “We will certainly get the space to counter against our opponents on Saturday.
“It is also important for us to keep possession of the ball and to actively try to win the ball back.”
Bremen midfielder Maximilian Eggestein added: “We are all fired up for the match and want to secure points.”
