Ross County poised to take advantage of any slip-up by rivals

Ross County will look to take advantage of the fall-out from Ladbrokes Championship leaders Ayr’s clash with promotion rivals Dundee United.

Ian McCall’s Honest Men travel to Tannadice to face third-placed United on Friday night.

With points set to be spilled somewhere, that will allow second-placed County to either close the gap on Ayr or move clear of the Tangerines when they take on Alloa on Saturday.

Dunfermline will be without the suspended Kallum Higginbotham as they host Morton following the striker’s sending off against Ross County last week.

Basement boys Falkirk aim to respond to last week’s humiliating William Hill Scottish Cup defeat to local rivals Stenhousemuir when they make the journey north to Inverness.

Partick Thistle have gone on a nine-game run without a win since beating Queen of the South back in September but they will hope Saturday’s trip to Dumfries will offer the chance to halt their worrying slump.
