Wrexham failed to peg back ground on the leaders with a close-fought 0-0 draw at Barrow.
The Dragons came close to going ahead midway through the first half when James Jennings crossed for Bobby Grant to head against the post.
Barrow also contributed to a vibrant first half, and John Rooney came close to putting the hosts in front with a header just wide.
The Holker Street side sought to take the advantage midway through the second period, but Tyler Smith’s header was fielded well by Rob Lainton.
At the other end, Joel Dixon reacted smartly to beat aside an effort from substitute Paul Rutherford.
