Jonathan Benteke set to remain sidelined for Oldham

Oldham face a tough task against Sky Bet League Two leaders Lincoln as they look to return to winning ways at Boundary Park on Tuesday night.

The match could come too soon for Belgian striker Jonathan Benteke, who missed his third successive fixture – Saturday’s clash at Tranmere – with a knock he sustained against Notts County earlier this month.

Daniel Iversen and Gevaro Nepomuceno, who both returned from international duty in the 1-1 draw against Rovers, will likely retain their starting places as striker Sam Surridge (hamstring) pushes for a start following injury after coming off the bench in the second half.

Midfielder Jose Baxter remains a long-term absentee with ankle ligament damage he sustained in the FA Cup win at Hampton & Richmond on November 12.

Lincoln midfielder Lee Frecklington is likely to remain out with bone bruising as Danny Cowley’s side look to extend their unbeaten run to three matches.

The 33-year-old, who suffered the problem after a collision at Port Vale six weeks ago, played an hour against Forest Green earlier this month but has been struggling to shake off the injury since.

Former Oldham defender Neal Eardley overcame a minor injury to play the full 90 minutes of the Imps’ 1-1 draw against Mansfield at the weekend and will line up against his former club at Boundary Park.

Sam Habergham, who is yet to feature for Lincoln this season, remains on the sidelines as the left-back recovers from a long-term knee injury.
