Wrexham dropped down to third in the National League standings after Maidstone put on a strong defensive performance in a 1-1 draw at Gallagher Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Home goalkeeper Grant Smith did well to hold out an early chance when under pressure before Alex Finney blocked an effort from Wrexham’s on-loan Huddersfield striker Rekeil Pyke as the visitors pressed for an opener.
Pyke and Paul Rutherford were further denied as the half wore on before a Luke Summerfield free-kick went wide and his second one was well caught by Smith on the half-time whistle as the hosts held firm.
Against the run of play, Maidstone broke the deadlock after 64 minutes as Simon Walton fired home a brilliant half-volley from the edge of the 18-yard box.
But their lead was short-lived as Brad Walker equalised seven minutes later with his long-range strike deflected into the net for a share of the spoils.
