Ricketts praises players for professional job at Weston

Sam Ricketts acknowledged that his Wrexham side did just enough to stave off a potential FA Cup shock as they beat Weston-super-Mare 2-0.
Second-half goals from Luke Summerfield and Stuart Beavon proved decisive after what was a first period lacking in chances.
But Dragons boss Ricketts praised his National League leaders for a professional display.
“It was all about winning and going through for us today but it was far from an easy game for us,” he said.
“Weston tried to play good football and at times we made hard work of it, but we’re in the second round and that’s what matters.
“It took us a long time to break them down and break their spirit and we managed to avoid an upset today.
“The pitch was soft and slippy after the rain and it had the makings of an FA Cup banana skin, but the players made sure we progressed.”
Seagulls boss Marc McGregor echoed Ricketts’ praise for his side but believes that they did enough to get more out of the tie.
“We were comfortable playing our game against Wrexham and we are bitterly disappointed that we haven’t at least earned a replay,” said McGregor.
“There were question marks over both goals, with first an offside and then a foul on Matt Bower and I’ll have to look back at those.
“But we performed well against the best team in non-league football at the moment and we have to take heart from the that.”
