Moses Emmanuel secures FA Cup replay for non-league Billericay

Moses Emmanuel earned Vanarama National League South leaders Billericay an FA Cup first-round replay with a sweetly struck 20-yard equaliser that secured a 1-1 draw at 1997 semi-finalists Chesterfield.
The midfielder ran onto a pass by skipper Sam Deering and showed composure to keep possession before leaving goalkeeper Callum Burton clutching at thin air in the 52nd minute.
Emmanuel’s goal cancelled out Laurence Maguire’s 17th-minute header for Chesterfield, who failed to make heavy late pressure pay.
Martin Allen’s side made a slick start as Curtis Weston, Marc Antoine-Fortune and the lively Zavon Hines all saw efforts denied by in-form goalkeeper Alan Julian.
But Maguire rose at the far post to nod home Joe Rowley’s corner before Billericay forced their way back into the game prior to the interval.
After Emmanuel’s leveller, both sides went all out for a winner, with Chesterfield ending up with four strikers on the field.
Jonathan Smith saw a shot deflected wide after an excellent cutback by Jerome Binnom-Williams before Julian produced his best stop of the lot to deny Hines.
But Chesterfield also needed a last-gasp clearance by Maguire after Callum Kennedy put over a threatening cross.
And the Essex visitors held out after four minutes of added time to earn a replay on home soil against their National League foes.
