Grimsby hit back to secure long-awaited cup win

Grimsby booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup for the first time in five seasons after coming from behind to beat MK Dons 3-1.
Kieran Agard put the League Two promotion contenders in front at Blundell Park, before goals from Elliot Embleton, Wes Thomas and Charles Vernam turned the tie around in the second half.
Agard opened the scoring after 23 minutes as he stole the ball off Danny Collins before slotting past home goalkeeper James McKeown.
It came after the same player had been expertly denied by the League Two Player of the Month for October.
At the other end, Embleton saw two efforts saved by Lee Nicholls before going one better shortly after the break with a superb equaliser.
Thomas then put Grimsby ahead for the first time, chesting down in the box and prodding the ball under Nicholls.
It was three shortly afterwards when Vernam, a summer signing from Derby, found the top corner to complete Grimsby’s first cup victory since 2013/14.
