Halifax fall short in pursuit of overdue point
Posted Sunday, November 04, 2018 by PA
A late goal from Niall Maher was not enough for 10-man Halifax as a 2-1 defeat at Havant extended their winless run to nine games.
The Hawks, meanwhile, ended their 10-game unbeaten run in midweek and goals from Tyler Cordner and Alfie Rutherford ensured back-to-back wins.
Cordner got the first goal of the game, and his second in a week, three minutes into the second half as he headed the ball past keeper Ben Dudzinski.
Rutherford doubled the Hawks’ lead in the 64th minute as Brad Tarbuck slid in a cross from the left hand side and the forward knocked the ball into an empty net.
Maher pulled one back in the 79 minute but a late red card for defender Will Wood brought an end to a miserable day for Halifax.
