Jabo Ibehre strike enough for Cambridge to snatch points

Jabo Ibehre struck late to earn Cambridge a 1-0 win against bottom club Macclesfield.
The winner came just moments after Ben Stephens had rattled the crossbar for the visitors with a terrific effort from the edge of the box, and the U’s went up the other end and scored within 30 seconds.
Liam O’Neil slotted the pass through to substitute Ibehre, who fired across Rhys Taylor to net on his return from injury nine minutes from time.
The drama was out of keeping with the remainder of the game, which had looked set to end in a dismal goalless draw.
Macclesfield’s best other chance came in the third minute when Peter Vincenti’s cross was flicked on to Harry Smith, whose header was kept out one-handed by David Forde.
At the other end Reggie Lambe’s swerving effort required tipping over by Macclesfield goalkeeper Taylor after 13 minutes.
Ibehre’s goal ends Cambridge’s long winless run at home, the U’s having gone since August 11 without winning a League Two fixture at the Abbey Stadium.
