Frankie Kent strike sinks leaders Lincoln

Leaders Lincoln suffered only their third defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 at fellow promotion candidates Colchester.
The Imps started brightly and Bruno Andrade’s long-range shot flew straight at goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin.
But Colchester warmed to the task and almost went ahead when Kane Vincent-Young showed great skill in the area but was denied in the six-yard box.
The U’s did take the lead in the 27th minute when Frankie Kent followed up to score at the near post after his first headed effort from Courtney Senior’s corner had been blocked by keeper Josh Vickers.
Colchester skipper Luke Prosser made a last-ditch tackle to deny John Akinde on the edge of the area just before the break.
And in the opening seconds after half-time, Andrade’s shot looked goal-bound until it struck team-mate Harry Anderson in the six-yard box.
Vickers denied both Sammie Szmodics and Ryan Jackson after the break and Gilmartin saved well from Michael O’Connor’s free-kick in stoppage time, as Colchester claimed a big win.
