JOSE MOURINHO has been ordered to bite his lip by Manchester United’s top brass.
The Glazer family, which owns the club, fear his outbursts damage United’s worldwide reputation, even though his latest FA rap is being vigorously contested.
Boss Mourinho was charged with using abusive language after this month’s 3-2 win over Newcastle, amid claims he swore in Portuguese into a BT Sport camera.
The Special One is sweating on a possible touchline ban and the FA also reminded him of his responsibilities after Saturday’s Stamford Bridge bust-up with Chelsea coach Marco Ianni.
The disintegration of Mourinho’s relationship with club legend Paul Scholes is also of serious concern at the top level.
They are concerned because of the wedge it has driven between club, manager and supporters.
However, Mourinho has changed his ways with his players.
It is noticeable that the former Chelsea boss has stopped digging them out in public, following another boardroom instruction.
He has stopped slagging them off and instead showered them with praise following the 2-2 draw at Chelsea and even after Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Juventus.
The players are even getting an easy ride in the dressing room, with Mourinho desperately trying to win them over following a chaotic start to the season.
