Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico is a target for the Gunners
ARSENAL are looking to bring in Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico as a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, according to reports.
The Argentine has caught the eye of Gunners boss Unai Emery after some impressive performances on the left flank for the Dutch outfit.
The full-back would be a direct replacement for the ageing Monreal, who turns 33 in February, and will also mean Sead Kolasinac is surplus to requirements at the Emirates.
The Bosnian has endured a disappointing spell for the Gunners since his move from Schalke in 2017.
He has failed to impress on the field as well as picking up numerous injuries in his time with the North London club - including a knee problem in Arsenal's pre-season match against Chelsea in August.
The Gunners are on a brilliant run of form - winning ten games on the bounce in all competitions.
However, they have been hampered with injuries in defence - with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Laurent Koscielny on the sidelines as well as Kolasinac.
Their injuries mean summer signing Stephan Lichtensteiner had to start Monday's 3-1 win over Leicester as an unnatural left-back.
A January move for 26-year-old Tagliafico could help them push on for a top four finish or even a title charge.
The Argentina international has impressed for Ajax since his £3.5million move from Independiente last season.
He has made 15 appearances for the Amsterdam club, scoring one goal.
