Shakers bury poor Magpies with four-goal salvo

Bury stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a thumping 4-0 victory against Notts County.
The hosts were terrific as they convincingly saw off a Notts County side who had won their previous three matches.
Bury struck after 11 minutes when Nicky Maynard slid in to convert Callum McFadzean’s cross as the ex-Bristol City, West Ham and Cardiff hitman registered his fourth goal in three games.
Eight minutes later it was 2-0. This time a low cross from Danny Mayor was not cleared by a static Magpies defence, and the ball trickled into the path of Dominic Telford, who tapped home from three yards.
Dominant Bury almost made it three shortly before the break when skipper Neil Danns fired narrowly wide.
Notts came close to a reply on the hour mark when Jamie Turley’s powerful header was cleared off the line by Adam Thompson.
Bury made it 3-0 when Jay O’Shea scored from the spot after Matt Tootle was guilty of tripping Telford.
Nicky Adams’ brilliant curling strike in the 88th minute capped a memorable afternoon for the Shakers.
