Kylian Mbappe Explains Why He Donated His $500,000 World Cup Wage To Charity

Kylian Mbappe showed he's a special player and person throughout the World Cup.

The 19-year old boy-wonder scored four goals as France won football's biggest prize for the second time and off the pitch he demonstrated he already has the makings of being a true great by donating all of his match fees to charity.

It's common knowledge that England players have been donating all of their international earnings for a while now but it isn't always the case for other nations.

Mbappe, however, made the generous decision to give his national team wage a different association after every game because he doesn't feel he should earn money to represent his country.

And the former Monaco man has further elaborated on why he decided to make the selfless gesture to disabled and sick children as part of an in-depth interview with TIME Magazine, where he is this month's international cover star.

"I did not need to be paid. I was there to defend the colors of the country," he told Vivienne Walt from TIME.

"Also, I earn enough money - a lot of money. So I think it is important to help those who are in need. A lot of people are suffering, a lot of people have diseases. For people like us, giving a helping hand to people is not a big thing.

"It doesn't change my life, but it changes theirs. And if it can change theirs, it is a great pleasure. I gave the money to the charity where I am a sponsor [Mbappé sponsors the French charity Premiers de Cordée] because being handicapped is something difficult. Showing them that they can do sports like everyone it is something close to my heart."

The 2017 Golden Boy award winner is a patron of the Premiers de Cordees association, a charity which looks to organise sports activities for children with disabilities. His donation of $500,000, which he really didn't need to do, will have helped out massively.

You just can't help but love Mbappe. He is well on his way to becoming the biggest star in world football, and if there's one man who is going to well and truly usurp Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in all aspects, it's him.
