Luton inflicted the first defeat of Scunthorpe manager Stuart McCall’s tenure with a 3-2 win at Kenilworth Road.
The Hatters had the lead after 10 minutes when Harry Cornick beat the offside trap to slot past Jak Alnwick from a tight angle.
Iron levelled seven minutes later as an unmarked Josh Morris was denied by home keeper James Shea, Lee Novak on hand to beat the covering Sonny Bradley.
Town were back in front after 26 minutes when Elliot Lee fired a left-footed scorcher from 20 yards beyond Alnwick.
James Collins went close to a third twice, shooting into the side-netting and then having a header well saved by Alnwick.
In the second half, Iron thought they had equalised, Novak’s goal ruled out for offside.
Cornick missed two opportunities to extend the lead, although Luton looked to be safe with five minutes to go, James Justin slamming home Jack Stacey’s low cross.
Stephen Humphrys pulled one back in stoppage time, but Luton held on to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
