Leaders Edinburgh power on at summit with seventh successive win

Scottish League Two leaders Edinburgh extended their winning run to seven consecutive league games with a 3-0 victory over Berwick.
Mark Laird’s strike gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break and they kicked on with two more goals. The league’s top scorer Blair Henderson struck twice, with one from the penalty spot, to take his tally to nine for the season.
It was a fourth defeat in a row for Berwick, who have lost seven of their last eight, and slip to ninth in the table.
Peterhead kept up their pursuit of the leaders courtesy of a 3-0 win against Elgin.
Jim McInally’s side have lost just the once this season and are now on a run of four successive wins.
Ryan Dow’s strike before the break was added to by Rory McAllister and Russell McLean to give the hosts a comfortable win.
Cowdenbeath secured just their second league win of the season despite playing over an hour with 10 men at home to Stirling Albion.
David Marsh gave the hosts the lead after just six minutes but their task was made much tougher by Gary Fraser’s dismissal for dangerous play after 28 minutes.
Annan beat bottom side Albion Rovers, who won their first game of the season last week, 3-1.
A Tony Wallace penalty and two goals from Scott Roberts was enough to give Annan the win, with a Lewis McLear strike the only consolation Rovers could take from the game.
Queen’s Park sprung a surprise with a 1-0 win at home to third-placed Clyde.
Clyde had won their last four games but succumbed to a first-half Josh Peters penalty.
