Bryan Oviedo sees red as Sunderland draw with Peterborough

Sunderland were left to rue Bryan Oviedo’s red card as Peterborough left the Stadium of Light with a point after a dramatic 2-2 draw.
In-form Josh Maja’s eighth goal of the season in the 21st minute separated the two teams at the break when he turned and found the far corner from 14 yards.
But Oviedo’s rush of blood with 22 minutes remaining – kicking out at Marcus Maddison – made things harder for the Black Cats.
Six minutes later Posh substitute Joe Ward picked out the far corner with a low drive that goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin could not get near.
There was still more drama. Jerome Sinclair’s first goal for Sunderland since moving from Watford on loan in the 79th minute – hammering home Chris Maguire’s pass – regained the lead for the home side.
But former Newcastle striker Ivan Toney made it a sweet return to the north east when he clipped a second equaliser beyond McLaughlin with five minutes remaining.
Ten-man Sunderland pressed for a winner late on but it was not to be.
