Steve Evans says Peterborough will learn from Blackpool draw

Peterborough boss Steve Evans insisted there were lessons to be learned at both ends of the pitch after his side were knocked off the top of League One.
Evans’ men twice threw away leads to draw 2-2 with Blackpool, who extended their own unbeaten run to 12 games in the process, at the ABAX Stadium.
They conceded a first away league goal as Rhys Bennett opened his Posh account in the 27th minute, but were unlucky not to level when Curtis Tilt sent a header against the crossbar.
They did equalise just before the hour when Armand Gnanduillet tucked away a cutback from Nathan Delfouneso, who looked to be in an offside position.
Substitute Mark O’Hara made an immediate impact with an unstoppable strike to restore the Posh lead in the 64th minute, but it proved to be short-lived as a classy Delfouneso effort restored parity.
“It’s a game we should have won,” Evans said. “We came up against a good Blackpool team, but we scored two goals and should have had a few more, and their first goal was clearly offside.
“It’s disappointing the assistant referee doesn’t do a simple job correctly, but he’s not the reason we didn’t win the game. That was due to us not being clinical enough in the final third.
“Mark came on and got us a wonderful goal, but then he was a bit sloppy himself in not tracking a run and that allowed Blackpool to get level again.
“There are lessons to be learned at both ends of the pitch. Our end product was not as good as it has been in other games and we need to be a bit sharper defensively.”
Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips said: “Anyone who paid to watch that game definitely got their money’s worth. We like to make things exciting!
“The lads’ spirit was unbelievable to come from behind twice and then get block after block in towards the end when Peterborough threw the kitchen sink at us.
“I’m really proud of my players. They were outstanding to a man, particularly in the second half. The effort and the quality of our performance was really good.
“I’ve watched the highlights back and it’s clear we had the better chances – especially the one for Jordan (Thompson) that could have won it.
“We scored two brilliant goals, though. To be fair to Peterborough their second goal was also a hell of a strike.”
