Ayunga strike helps Sutton end Orient’s unbeaten streak

Leyton Orient surrendered top spot and the last unbeaten record in the National League after slumping to a 1-0 home defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Sutton.
Jonah Ayunga scored the decisive goal just after half-time as Sutton bounced back from last week’s disappointing home draw with lowly Dover, where they let a two-goal lead slip.
Ayunga turned an Orient defender before drilling a 20-yard shot past Dean Brill at his near post to put Sutton ahead in the 48th minute.
Orient, who had named an unchanged starting line-up for the 10th successive match, nearly snatched a late equaliser but Dale Gorman saw his 89th-minute effort hit the crossbar.
The home side would come no closer than that as they lost both their undefeated record and first place in the table to in-form Salford.
