Bonne treble fires Orient to big win at Braintree

Macauley Bonne went clear as the leading scorer in the National League with a hat-trick in Leyton Orient’s 5-1 win at struggling Braintree.
Justin Edinburgh’s men led early on when Bonne slotted home his seventh goal of the season from the spot.
The home side levelled when Lyle Della Verde was conveniently placed to apply the decisive touch in a goalmouth scramble.
Marvin Ekpiteta restored the O’s’ lead, smashing into the net on the rebound after Ben Killip had denied Bonne his second.
However Josh Koroma put the affair beyond Braintree in the second half with an impressive lobbed finish from Charlie Lee’s through ball.
Bonne prodded in from Lee’s long throw, and added a deflected fifth as Orient remained unbeaten this season.
