A FRENCH newspaper has gone back to the future with The Beatles as it urges Paris Saint-Germain's superstars to Come Together for tonight's Champions League opener.

PSG striking heroes Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar are in a front-page mock-up copying the famous cover of the Merseyside rockers' Abbey Road album.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is chosen as the final member of Le Fab Four beneath L'Equipe's message: "A road to cross."

The sports paper recreated the iconic image of The Beatles walking over a zebra crossing to mark the biggest match on the first night of Champions League group games.

But unlike today's cosmopolitan selection, the Liverpool squad when the album came out in September 1969 was dominated by Englishmen, such as Ray Clemence, Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes, Ian Callaghan and Roger Hunt.

It was, though, a season that ended far more happily for the other half of Merseyside, as Everton won the top-flight - finishing four places and 15 points above Liverpool.

Now, however, Liverpool are many people's tips to not only vie for the Premier League title with champions Manchester City but also to at least match their Euro run last term, when Real Madrid beat them 3-1 in the final.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has stirred things up for tonight by suggesting Neymar and World Cup winner Mbappe often escape A Hard Day's Night in France.

Neymar and fellow Brazil star Marquinhos were rested, while Mbappe was suspended, as PSG coasted past Saint-Etienne 4-0 last Friday.

Klopp said: "We compete in the two toughest competitions in the world, the Premier League and Champions League. How can we say we don't want that?

"That is what we do, that is what has brought us all together here — but there is not one second that is easy.

"We will try to be ready for PSG. We try to prepare but they are really good, a very interesting football project, and they rested two key players on Friday night."

Klopp also insists he has no fears if Roberto Firmino fails to recover from his eye injury and Daniel Sturridge steps in.

The German will tell fringe man Sturridge "Don't Let Me Down" as the ex-England striker fights to revive his career, having not yet started this season.
