Barcelona have denied that Andre Cury, an expert on the Brazilian market employed by the club, received commission from Neymar's transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
Cadena SER had reported on Thursday that Cory received a 6.6 million euros payment for his part in the deal and that his contract included a three percent commission on Neymar's sale to another club.
The club have refuted the sum but not the existence of the clause itself.
"The move was not the result of an agreed transfer, but rather of the payment of the player's release clause," the official statement read.
The club also confirmed that Cory has a contract with the club but that it's "non-exclusive".
Through this relationship Cury has been involved in numerous Barcelona deals with Brazil including Arthur, Paulinho, Yerry Mina and Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona also warned that they "reserve the right to take any legal action the club sees fit against those who spread false stories about the club."
