JURGEN KLOPP insists Liverpool's thrashing at Tottenham last season was a one-off.

Klopp wants his players to show their true selves today when they return to Wembley 11 months on from their 4-1 thumping.

"We would like to use it a bit like ‘strike back, go there and really show our real strength' and of course it is like that," said Liverpool manager Klopp.

"But from a tactical view it's not that it was the worst game in the world.

"It was not good, we deserved to lose that day but it was not the worst game in football history.

"It is Tottenham, it is a top team in Europe not only in England, so it is a tough place to go and tough job to do – that is all we can think about.

"It will be interesting, very interesting, not just thinking too much about how can we pass, how can we play?

"It must be a proper fight for both teams. The Tottenham manager knows that as well.

"Last year we made it a bit too easy for them because we lost the ball and they only had to play one pass behind our lines.

"We should be much better organised this time, we were much better organised than that in the other games (since then), so we should use that and we can get something."

Tottenham's two early goals last year were thanks to defensive howlers, most notably from Dejan Lovren who hauled off in embarrassment after a 30-minute roasting from Harry kane.

Many saw that humbling as a turning point for Liverpool, the game that shocked their season into life.

"It was a bad game," said Klopp, whose side have lost just three Premier League games since.

"In this situation we were just disorganised. It was a long ball and we missed a header.

"If we don't miss that it stays as an open game.

"The first two goals were our mistakes so if you don't concede these goals, it's a completely different game.

"I don't take this game constantly and say, ‘Look at this, that was Tottenham don't ever do this again'. We knew it immediately."
