Jordan Shipley inspires Coventry to victory at Oxford

Jordan Shipley’s inspired second half helped bring Coventry City a 2-1 victory at Oxford United and their first away win of the season.
A speculative shot from the left side of the box by Shipley on 64 minutes deflected off a defender past wrong-footed keeper Jonathan Mitchell.
Shipley was then brought down by Mitchell with nine minutes to go after winning a race to the ball, and Conor Chaplin converted the penalty.
The U’s pulled a goal back four minutes from time when substitute Jon Obika headed home a corner.
But Coventry held out to avenge last month’s 2-0 Carabao Cup defeat at the Kassam Stadium.
Oxford had produced some improved results after losing their first four league matches but in this scrappy contest they looked disjointed and some of their set piece deliveries were poor.
James Henry clipped the top of the bar for the home side with a 16-yard shot in the opening minutes, while Jordan Willis also went close with a header for City.
