Stephen Dobbie scored a hat-trick for the second Scottish Championship match running as his first-half treble set Queen of the South on their way to a 5-0 victory over 10-man Ayr at Palmerston Park.
Dobbie, who netted all three in last weekend’s 3-0 win at Falkirk, finished the match with four goals, despite missing a penalty. The defeat was Ayr’s first of the season.
He opened the scoring after 12 minutes as he picked out the top corner.
Dobbie converted a penalty after 20 minutes following a foul from Ayr’s Daniel Harvie and two minutes later completed his hat-trick.
The Championship top-scorer missed a penalty just after the half-hour mark, but the Doomhamers found the net a fourth time eight minutes before the break through Gary Harkins.
Ayr were reduced to 10 men when Harvie saw red for foul and abusive language with just over 10 minutes remaining and Dobbie added number five six minutes from time/
