Albion score three but losing run continues

Albion Rovers fluffed their best opportunity yet to record a positive result in their 2018-19 campaign as Berwick defied their best efforts and triumphed 5-3 in Coatbridge.
John Brogan’s men went into this encounter having lost their previous nine matches in all competitions but Alan Murdoch gave them reason to believe with his third-minute opener.
Gary Phillips soon responded and Paul Willis’ penalty gave Berwick the lead until Lewis McLear levelled it up heading into the break.
The momentum was with the Wee Rovers when Graham Gracie chipped the keeper from 40 yards but Berwick debutant Cedwyn Scott notched on the hour mark and Daryl Healy won it for the Borderers 12 minutes from time. Scott ended hopes of a comeback by adding Berwick’s fifth at late on.
Peter MacDonald scored a goal but missed a penalty as Stirling snapped a run of four straight defeats with a convincing 3-0 triumph at Elgin.
Cammy Thomson fired Albion ahead after 15 minutes, with MacDonald doubling the lead before missing the chance to further extend it from the spot just before the half-hour. Another penalty was awarded to Stirling before half-time, however, and Jordan Allan stuck it away.
One Edinburgh City fan was in attendance to witness his side beat Peterhead 1-0 at Balmoor.
The Blue Toon said a single Citizen was in the away section as Blair Henderson’s 52nd-minute header guided Edinburgh to a fourth win of the season, also ending Peterhead’s unbeaten start in the league.
Ally Love’s volley ensured Clyde avoided a third straight defeat as it clinched a 2-1 success at Annan. David Goodwillie’s opener was cancelled out by Tony Wallace, but Love had the last word.
Queen’s Park and Cowdenbeath drew 0-0 in the day’s other game.
