Vaughan at the double as Raith hit four

Lewis Vaughan scored twice as Raith Rovers thrashed Forfar 4-0 at Stark’s Park to go joint top of the Ladbrokes League One table.

The division’s top scorer Kevin Nisbet reached six goals for the season with the opener before Vaughan notched twice after the break, with Chris Duggan confirming Forfar’s unbeaten away run was over.

Raith now lead the way alongside Arbroath, who were held 2-2 by Brechin as Andy Jackson bagged a brace for the visitors to Gayfield Park.

The Smokies’ vibrant attacking approach this term was again in evidence as Jason Thomas’ header gave them the lead after just two minutes, with Bobby Linn widening the gap 17 minutes later.

However, Jackson curled one in five minutes into the second half before doubling up with his head to snatch a point for Brechin.

Airdrie enjoyed a maiden home win this term as Leighton McIntosh and Joao Vitoria notched against 10-man Stranraer, who had Andrew McDonald sent off.

East Fife recorded their first win at the fifth attempt as Ross Davidson and former Montrose striker Jonny Court scored in a 2-0 win at Links Park.

Elsewhere, Conner Duthie’s late strike boosted Stenhousemuir to a 2-1 victory against Dumbarton.

Bobby Barr gave the struggling Sons a sixth-minute lead but Seb Ross’ chip levelled it up before, nine minutes from the end, Duthie found the top left corner to leave Dumbarton without a win in four.
