Tempers flare as Alloa hold Inverness

Ten-man Alloa snatched a late equaliser to earn their first point of the season from a 2-2 draw at Inverness – a game which featured three penalties.

Inverness took the lead in the 10th minute as Liam Polworth picked out Brad McKay and the defender nodded into the top corner.

But the visitors notched their first goal of the season to equalise after 35 minutes. Iain Flannigan’s free-kick sparked a scramble in the Inverness area before Andy Graham nodded in.

Alloa’s Zdravko Karadachki was sent off in the 48th minute after being booked twice in two minutes. His second offence was to bring down George Oakley in the area.

Sean Welsh stepped up and stroked Inverness back in front from the spot.

Caley Thistle missed the opportunity to extend the advantage with another penalty after 70 minutes after Graham upended Riccardo Calder. But Coll Donaldson smashed it against the bar.

Alloa made no such mistake when given a penalty of their own three minutes from time, Flannigan snatching a point for the visitors after Jack Hastie was fouled.
