Peterhead and Annan remain unbeaten

Peterhead and Annan maintained their unbeaten starts to the Ladbrokes League Two campaign with respective 2-0 and 3-0 wins over Stirling and Berwick.

Rory McAllister hit the bar for the Blue Toon in the fifth minute but they broke the deadlock a minute before half-time when Jamie Stevenson curled home a 30-yard free-kick in off a post.

McAllister added a second in the 64th minute with his fourth goal in five games as Peterhead made in three successive wins and condemned Stirling to a fourth straight defeat.

Annan also won for the third game on the trot thanks to goals from Aiden Smith, Tommy Muir and David Wilson.

Smith lobbed in the opener after eight minutes before Muir nodded in from a Tony Wallace cross just past the hour.

Wilson unleashed a fine free-kick into the bottom corner in stoppage time to wrap up the points.

Ten-man Albion suffered a fourth consecutive reverse as they went down 2-0 at Queen’s Park.

Kurtis Roberts opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Smart Osadolor curled an effort against the post.

William Mortimer doubled Queens’ lead on the stroke of half-time with his first senior goal.

He was then brought down for a penalty five minutes into the second half, which saw Barry Eley sent off, but keeper Daniel Potts saved Scott Gibson’s spot-kick.

Edinburgh’s fine start continued with a 2-0 win at Clyde.

Scott Shepherd put the visitors ahead in the 61st minute – and has now scored in all three appearances this season – and Blair Henderson added a second 10 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Elgin’s home game with Cowdenbeath was postponed due to the condition of the Borough Briggs pitch.
