Ben Watson is expected to slot in for Adlene Guedioura when Nottingham Forest host Birmingham in Saturday’s Championship clash.
Guedioura suffered a fractured cheekbone in Forest’s 2-2 draw at Wigan, with Watson stepping off the bench at the DW Stadium.
Joe Lolley is a doubt after picking up a knock at Wigan, while Matty Cash is likely to retain his starting berth.
Forward Hillal Soudani is also pushing hard for a start after stepping off the bench to join Cash on the scoresheet against Wigan.
Isaac Vassell has suffered a new setback in his recovery from long-term knee trouble for Birmingham.
The Blues striker was closing in on a playing return after 11 months on the sidelines, only to pick up a hip injury in training, ruling him out for the foreseeable future.
Craig Gardner returns from suspension but fellow midfielder David Davis remains some way from fitness.
Davis underwent ankle surgery during pre-season and is still on crutches.
