Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe leaves it late as Bromley beat Gateshead

Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe scored a controversial late goal as Bromley claimed their first win of the Vanarama National League season by edging out Gateshead 1-0.
The substitute’s header two minutes from time hit the bar and was adjudged by the linesman to have crossed the line after bouncing down, handing Gateshead their first defeat of the campaign.
It was a dramatic end to a game that produced few clear-cut chances, Omar Bugiel coming closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when he went through on goal, only to see his chip over Aynsley Pears well saved by the goalkeeper.
John Goddard’s strike narrowly missed the target while, at the other end, JJ O’Donnell miscued his effort into the grateful hands of Bromley goalkeeper David Gregory.
However, as a goalless draw seemed a foregone conclusion, a long throw-in to the box was flicked on by Dan Johnson and turned in, via the woodwork, by Ogedi-Uzokwe.
