Sutton go second as Craig Eastmond sees off Ebbsfleet

Sutton continued their unbeaten start to the season as a scrappy goal from Craig Eastmond handed them a 1-0 victory at Ebbsfleet.
Eastmond capitalised on a defensive error in the first half and a clean sheet for Jamie Butler was enough to secure Paul Doswell’s side a third win from four outings.
A tally of 10 points places them third in the Vanarama National League, behind Wrexham and Gateshead on goal difference alone.
The game at Stonebridge Road had begun at a brisk pace but neither keeper was too troubled until the 33rd minute when Jack Powell’s back pass fell short of Nathan Ashmore, allowing Eastmond to squeeze a shot home.
Powell attempted to make amends with a firm effort on the stroke of half-time but Butler saved.
Daniel Wishart was close to putting Sutton two up in the second half, clipping the top of the crossbar with a free-kick.
