Ten-man Sutton fight back to beat Salford

Ten-man Sutton came from behind to beat Salford 2-1 and keep the highly-fancied Ammies winless to start the National League season.
With part-owner Gary Neville watching on, the match started brightly for Salford who dominated the opening exchanges and got their reward when Carl Piergianni scored on the follow-up after Jamie Butler blocked Lois Maynard’s 20th minute shot.
But Sutton were level 14 minutes later through Craig Eastmond after good work from Dan Wishart and Kenny Davis in the area.
Sutton lost Aswad Thomas to a red card early in the second half after a bad challenge on Danny Whitehead, but that did not stop them finding a 63rd minute winner through Ross Lafayette after Josh Taylor drew the goalkeeper off his line and squared the ball.
