Ten-man Ayr hold off Inverness for stalemate

Ayr shrugged off the first-half dismissal of Daniel Harvie to earn a 0-0 draw at Inverness.

Caley Thistle started their season with a win at Falkirk and they had a golden opportunity to make it back-to-back victories when Harvie was sent off for a second bookable offence after conceding a penalty.

But Liam Polworth put his 29th-minute spot-kick wide and the hosts were fortunate to still be level after Ayr – 2-0 winners over Partick Thistle in their opener – made a strong start to the second half.

Inverness got back on top and piled on the pressure as time ticked down but were unable to find a winner.
