Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is expected to choose from an unchanged squad for the home game against Sheffield United.
Pulis said he was anxious to strengthen before Thursday’s transfer deadline after his side rescued a 2-2 draw at Millwall on the opening day with two late goals.
Boro have reported no new injury concerns, while defender Ben Gibson has completed his move to Burnley and forward Adama Traore is poised to join Wolves.
Ashley Fletcher, Marcus Tavernier and Lewis Wing all made an impact off the bench at the weekend and are pushing for starts.
Sheffield United have no new injuries following their opening-day home defeat to Swansea, but boss Chris Wilder said he could make one or two changes.
On-loan Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn is pushing for his first start after stepping off the bench on Saturday, as is fellow striker Billy Sharp.
Midfielder Paul Coutts has returned to full training after recovering from a broken leg, but he will play in some under-23 games before returning to first-team contention
Defender Jake Wright (cheekbone) remains sidelined, but is expected to resume full training in three weeks.
