Winning start for Paul Tisdale as MK Dons hold on at Oldham

Paul Tisdale made a flying start in charge of MK Dons as his side earned a 2-1 win at Oldham.
In a battle between two clubs who were relegated from League One last season – and both under new management – Tisdale took the points through early goals from Kieran Agard and Ryan Harley.
The Dons were awarded a penalty after nine minutes when George Williams challenged for a corner and was hauled down by Giles Coke.
Agard drilled home from the spot and, midway through the first half, it was 2-0 to the visitors as Agard crossed from the right and Harley tucked in a simple far-post finish.
Frankie Bunn’s Oldham pulled a goal back on 41 minutes, with Dan Gardner blasting home from 20 yards after determined build-up play by Ishmael Miller.
Latics goalkeeper Daniel Iversen made a fine save from Connor McGrandles just after the break, while Sam Surridge went close for the hosts.
Oldham pressed for an equaliser, but they couldn’t prevent defeat in their first game in the basement league since 1971.
