Chesterfield make winning start to life outside the Football League

Chesterfield began life in the National League with a 1-0 victory over Ebbsfleet courtesy of Zavon Hines’ second-half penalty.
The Spireites dropped out of the Football League for the first time in almost a century after finishing bottom of League Two last season but made an ideal start to this campaign.
Ebbsfleet will feel hard done by, however, as Ebou Adams’ header clattered the bar in the first half while Danny Kedwell’s chipped effort was cleared off the line just after the interval.
But the hosts, who reached the play-off semi-finals last term, fell behind in the 65th minute, Hines slotting home from the spot after being brought down moments earlier by Sam Magri in the area.
It proved to be the pivotal moment of the game as Chesterfield kept their goal in tact with minimal fuss.
