Liam Noble scored on his debut as Hartlepool secured a 1-1 draw with Maidstone in Matthew Bates’ first game in permanent charge.
Blair Turgott fired Maidstone in front in the 41st minute from the penalty spot after Oliver Muldoon was brought down in the box.
But Pools responded immediately through former Notts County and Forest Green midfielder Noble, who stroked a cutback beyond Lee Worgan.
Scott Loach ensured the visitors took a point home with a double save late on from Jack Paxman and Nana Ofori-Twumasi.
