Blair Henderson scored a hat-trick as Edinburgh handed Ladbrokes League Two newboys Albion a 4-0 defeat on the opening day of the campaign.
Albion’s bid to bounce straight back from relegation got off to a bad start as summer signing Henderson gave Edinburgh the lead from the penalty spot after just nine minutes.
He added his second 11 minutes into the second half with a lob over goalkeeper Gareth Hallford and he completed his hat-trick with a close-range finish in the 64th minute.
Allan Smith rounded off a thumping home win by adding a fourth with eight minutes left.
Queen’s Park, who were relegated from League One with Albion last season, earned a 1-1 draw at Peterhead.
They started well as Scott Gibson gave the visitors a seventh-minute lead when he turned in Jamie McKernon’s corner.
But Peterhead, who missed out on automatic promotion by one point last season before losing the play-off final, levelled in the 25th minute when Rory McAllister slotted in after goalkeeper Jordan Hart denied Jamie Stevenson.
Clyde stated their campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win against Cowdenbeath, who needed a play-off to avoid relegation last season.
Martin McNiff gave the hosts a 25th-minute advantage, which David Goodwillie doubled from the penalty spot three minutes later.
Elsewhere, Ross Brown scored the only goal as Berwick won 1-0 at home to Sirling, while Brian Cameron’s 85th-minute equaliser earned Elgin a 1-1 draw at Annan.
