Portsmouth winger Jamal Lowe will miss the season opener against Sky Bet League One new boys Luton.
The 24-year-old suffered an ankle injury in a pre-season clash with FC Utrecht and is likely to be missing until the middle of August.
A host of new signings could make their Pompey bows at Fratton Park, including former Tottenham youngster Anton Walkes.
Petar Durin, Tom Naylor, Ronan Curtis and Lee Brown are also among those pushing to make their debuts.
Nathan Jones will be hoping to guide Luton to a decent start as they look to build on promotion last season.
The Hatters began the last campaign with an 8-2 win over Yeovil on their way to finishing second in League Two.
Luton made a hat-trick of additions to their first-team ranks over the summer and all will want to play some part on the south-coast.
Winger Andrew Shinnie came in from Birmingham while former England youth international Matty Pearson joined from Barnsley and defender Sonny Bradley was signed from Plymouth.
