Macauley Bonne fires Leyton Orient past Wrexham

Wrexham’s hopes of finishing in the Vanarama National League play-off place suffered another setback as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient for their third straight loss.
The hosts came close to opening the scoring in just the fourth minute as Dan Happe headed Jobi McAnuff’s free-kick goalwards, but goalkeeper Chris Dunn did well to tip the ball over his net.
Orient’s top scorer Macauley Bonne broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark as he headed McAnuff’s cross into the bottom corner for his 21st goal of the season.
James Brophy almost doubled the home side’s lead as he sent in a shot destined for the bottom corner after 59 minutes, but Wrexham’s Sam Wedgbury blocked his effort and Orient held on for maximum points.
